This article about Romanian ‘plăcinte’ is the result of a wonderful collaboration between SBS Food Australia, Ioana Logan and Ana Ciortuz – both cooking Romanian in Melbourne, and myself. The bit about the history of ”plăcinte’ was quite long, but I am glad to see their Greek origin being recognised here, together with the fact that even today in Romania, we eat a version that is pretty much Cato’s recipe in his De agri cultura, 160 BC.
